How to report sexual assault in Miami

This is what we have read and stored about reporting in Miami. Read only the part you need. You do not have to decide anything today.

Checked against official sources on 31 August 2026.

the emergency number

911

If you are in danger right now, call this number. Escrow is not an emergency service and cannot send anyone to you.

where to report

Call 911 if you are in danger, or go to any police station in Miami-Dade County to file a report. You can also go straight to the Roxcy Bolton Rape Treatment Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, the county's only comprehensive rape treatment centre, which is open 24 hours a day on 305-585-7273 and does not need you to have reported to the police first.

what to bring

No documents or insurance are required. All Roxcy Bolton RTC services, including the medical and forensic exam, are free of charge and confidential, whether or not you choose to involve police.

the exam window

The Roxcy Bolton Rape Treatment Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The exam treats injuries, tests for and helps prevent sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy, and collects forensic evidence if you want the police involved. Go as soon as you can, because evidence degrades with time. We have not found an official Florida source that sets the outer limit for collecting it, so ask the centre when you call.

the deadline

Under Florida Statute 775.15, a first or second degree felony sexual battery on someone 16 or older can be prosecuted at any time if it is reported to law enforcement within 72 hours. Otherwise the prosecution generally has to begin within 8 years. If you were under 18 at the time, there is no time limit at all.

support organisations

People near you who do this every day.

These are independent of Escrow. They can sit with you through a report, and they can also just talk.

Every fact above came from one of these.

the honest note

This is information, not legal advice.

Requirements change, deadlines are read differently by different offices, and a station can move. Nobody here is your lawyer. For advice about your own case, ask a lawyer or a support organisation in Miami.

Write to hello@escrow.nanocorp.app if something on this page is out of date.

when you are ready

A report is yours. You can seal it, publish it as a pin, or leave it where it is. Nothing happens until you say so.
