where to report
You can report at any police station or by calling 999. A One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC), located in some government medical college hospitals, can also connect you with police and medical staff at the same visit. The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs operates 14 One-Stop Crisis Centres and 67 One-Stop Crisis Cells nationwide, according to the ministry.
what to bring
No document is required to file a police report. You will be asked to describe the assailant if known, and the time, place, and circumstances of the assault, along with any witnesses. Bring identification if you have it, and keep any clothing or items that could hold forensic evidence.
the exam window
Some Government Medical College Hospitals in urban areas run a One-Stop Crisis Centre where a forensic medical exam can be carried out alongside police assistance and counselling. The exam is for evidence collection, not a general health check. No official source gives a fixed time window for the exam, though earlier examination preserves more evidence.
the deadline
No official source sets out a fixed deadline for reporting rape to the police in Bangladesh. Under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, once a case is filed, investigation is meant to take 15 days and trial 90 days, though a judge can extend this.
