where to report
Call 111 if it has just happened and you are in danger. You can report to New Zealand Police at any time: go to your nearest Auckland station, call 105, or report online. HELP Auckland runs a free specialist 24-hour HELPline for the region on 0800 623 1700, and can support you whether or not you decide to report.
what to bring
No documents or referral are needed to call HELP Auckland. Specialist sexual assault medical care in the Auckland region is free of charge, whether or not you report to the police.
the exam window
For a recent assault, evidence can be collected from clothing and body up to a week afterwards, and in some cases longer. You can ask for it to be stored while you decide whether to report, and HELP Auckland can go with you to the appointment.
the deadline
New Zealand Police accept a report at any time, whether the assault happened weeks, months or years ago. Being years late does not close the door in Auckland or anywhere else in the country.
