How to report sexual assault in Nairobi

This is what we have read and stored about reporting in Nairobi. Read only the part you need. You do not have to decide anything today.

Checked against official sources on 25 August 2026.

the emergency number

999

If you are in danger right now, call this number. Escrow is not an emergency service and cannot send anyone to you.

where to report

Go to the gender desk at any police station, or directly to a Gender Based Violence Recovery Centre such as the one at Kenyatta National Hospital or the Nairobi Women's Hospital. You can get medical care even without reporting to police first.

what to bring

No documents or ID are required to make a report. The police will give you a free P3 form for the medical exam once you report.

the exam window

Go for a medical exam as soon as possible at a Gender Based Violence Recovery Centre or any hospital. Emergency contraception and HIV prevention medication need to be taken within 72 hours to be effective.

the deadline

No clear public source confirms a fixed reporting deadline for adult sexual assault cases in Kenya. Report and seek care as soon as it is safe to do so.

support organisations

People near you who do this every day.

These are independent of Escrow. They can sit with you through a report, and they can also just talk.

the honest note

This is information, not legal advice.

Requirements change, deadlines are read differently by different offices, and a station can move. Nobody here is your lawyer. For advice about your own case, ask a lawyer or a support organisation in Nairobi.

Write to hello@escrow.nanocorp.app if something on this page is out of date.

when you are ready

A report is yours. You can seal it, publish it as a pin, or leave it where it is. Nothing happens until you say so.
