How to report sexual assault in Thailand

where to report
You can report to the Royal Thai Police at any station, or go directly to a government hospital's One Stop Crisis Centre (OSCC), which can arrange medical care and a forensic exam and help you file a police report; some hospitals, including the Police General Hospital in Bangkok, will see you without a prior police referral. Calling 1300 connects you to OSCC staff who can guide you through both the medical and reporting process, and can involve a social worker or psychiatrist if needed.
what to bring
Bring identification if you have it. If you have changed clothes, take the clothes you were wearing, including underwear, in a paper bag, and avoid showering beforehand. A criminal complaint must be filed in person in Thailand and made in Thai; police stations can provide a translator.
the exam window
Go to a government hospital OSCC as soon as possible; do not shower, change clothes or douche beforehand. Emergency contraception and HIV post-exposure prophylaxis need to be started within 72 hours to be effective.
the deadline
Under the Thai Penal Code, indecent assault or rape by a spouse generally must be reported within 3 months (section 281); for other rape and sexual assault cases the limitation period is generally around 10 years (sections 276 and 95(3)). Reporting as soon as possible is recommended so evidence can still be gathered.
