How to report sexual assault in Jakarta

This is what we have read and stored about reporting in Jakarta. Read only the part you need. You do not have to decide anything today.

Checked against official sources on 27 August 2026.

the emergency number

Call 112 for the Jakarta emergency line, or 110 for police. Call 129 (or WhatsApp 08-111-129-129) for the national SAPA 129 hotline for women and children, run by the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection.

If you are in danger right now, call this number. Escrow is not an emergency service and cannot send anyone to you.

where to report

Report to the UPPA (Unit Pelayanan Perempuan dan Anak, the Women and Children's Service Unit) at your local Polres, or at Polda Metro Jaya, which handles serious cases citywide. You can also go in person or call the DKI Jakarta government's UPT P2TP2A (Pusat Pelayanan Terpadu Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Anak) office on Jl. Raya Bekasi Timur KM 18, Jatinegara, or reach its 24-hour hotline. Neighbourhood Pos Pengaduan (complaint posts) across all five Jakarta municipalities and the Pos SAPA desks at busway, MRT and LRT stations can also take your report and refer you onward.

what to bring

No documents are required to make a report. Bring your ID card (KTP) if you have one to speed up the process, and any medical report if you already have one, but the P2TP2A and police are required to accept your report even without paperwork.

the exam window

Go to a hospital emergency department or Puskesmas (community health centre); many, along with the police-linked PPT (Pusat Pelayanan Terpadu) units, can carry out a forensic medical exam (visum et repertum) which strengthens a later police report. Try not to wash or change clothes before the exam. HIV post-exposure prophylaxis is most effective if started within 72 hours, and emergency contraception should be taken within 72-120 hours of the assault.

the deadline

There is no short deadline to report rape in Indonesia. Under the new Criminal Code (Law 1/2023, in force since January 2026), rape is punishable by up to 12 years in prison, and the state's power to prosecute lapses only after 18 years from the act, so a report made years later can still be investigated.

the honest note

This is information, not legal advice.

Requirements change, deadlines are read differently by different offices, and a station can move. Nobody here is your lawyer. For advice about your own case, ask a lawyer or a support organisation in Jakarta.

Write to hello@escrow.nanocorp.app if something on this page is out of date.

when you are ready

A report is yours. You can seal it, publish it as a pin, or leave it where it is. Nothing happens until you say so.
