Is it too late to report in Jakarta?
Probably later than you think.
Jakarta does have a deadline, and it is quoted in full below rather than summarised. It is measured against the law, not against how long you have been quiet.

There is no short deadline to report rape in Indonesia. Under the new Criminal Code (Law 1/2023, in force since January 2026), rape is punishable by up to 12 years in prison. The state's power to prosecute lapses only after 18 years from the act. A report made years later can still be investigated.
We quote this rather than shorten it. A shortened deadline is a wrong deadline, and this is the sentence a lawyer would want to read.

Go to a hospital emergency department or Puskesmas (community health centre). Many of these, and the police-linked PPT (Pusat Pelayanan Terpadu) units, can carry out a forensic medical exam (visum et repertum). That exam strengthens a later police report. Try not to wash or change clothes before the exam. HIV post-exposure prophylaxis is most effective if started within 72 hours, and emergency contraception should be taken within 72-120 hours of the assault.
This is the clock that runs out fast. You can be examined without deciding whether to go to the police.
the limitation period
This is the deadline for the case itself — how long the law gives before a prosecution can no longer be brought. It is usually many years for rape, and often longer or unlimited when the survivor was a child.
Missing the exam window does not mean the limitation period has passed. They are separate clocks.
where to report in Jakarta
Report to the UPPA (Unit Pelayanan Perempuan dan Anak, the Women and Children's Service Unit) at your local Polres. You can also go to Polda Metro Jaya, which handles serious cases citywide. The DKI Jakarta government runs a UPT P2TP2A (Pusat Pelayanan Terpadu Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Anak) office. It is on Jl. Raya Bekasi Timur KM 18, Jatinegara. You can go in person, call, or reach its 24-hour hotline. Neighbourhood Pos Pengaduan (complaint posts) sit across all five Jakarta municipalities. Pos SAPA desks are at busway, MRT and LRT stations. Both can take your report and refer you onward.

A closed case is not the same as no record.
If the period above has run out where you are, a prosecution may no longer be possible. That is the plain truth and we will not dress it up. 3 things are still open to you.

What you write here is dated and kept. Years later, a record that existed before anyone asked for it carries weight a memory does not.
a sealed report that can match
Seal it against an identifier — a profile link, a phone, a workplace. Nobody sees it until someone else names the same person. Their case may still be inside the deadline.

Publish it and the next person searching Jakarta can see it. He stays an alias unless a court, the police or the press have already published his name.
